A Day at the Lake

A Day at the Lake

A Day at the Lake

This is "Little" (only used to describe her age at the time) Bella. Upon taking her to my family's lake cottage for the first time, I felt excited and as a a new puppy mom, a bit nervous. Bulldogs are notorious for NOT being able to swim. So I tried to prepare Bella for the water. I put her in a child's life jacket like any good mom would do. (She looked just like Chris Farley in Tommy Boy, "Fat guy in a little coat.") Needless to say she wouldn't even take a step because she knew she looked ridiculous. So, I tossed aside the life jacket and let her go on her own down the steps, supervised of course. She loved the cool water on her toes and jumped right in! Luckily, the water was shallow near the shore. She proceeded to walk up and down the shoreline drinking the lake water every step of the way. She ventured out to deeper waters and proving me wrong, she came up with her own way to swim. She would go just deeper than she could reach, sink a few inches below the surface and jump off the bottom of the lake keeping her head above water the whole time! Very impressive from a first timer! Now, as soon as we open the doors to the lake, she runs down the three flights of stairs, out on the pier, and right into the lake before we even clear the deck on the top level! At least we know she is smart enough to stay where she can touch! You have to admit, she's one cutie pie!!
