Alcazar de Colon

by Larry Jenkins
(San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic)

In the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic is the reconstructed home of Diego Columbus, son of Christopher Columbus. The home was originally built in the early 1500's. It was rebuilt using the original plans for the 500th anniversary in 1992.

All photos that I have seen are from the front of the building. I have taken several from that viewpoint. One day I had an hour to kill while some photos were being printed. I intended to photograph a bridge but this image seemed so different I had to do it.

There is no street level location to get this image. Only by being on a bridge some distance away can you see this part of the home.

Santo Domingo has provided me with several hours of photography.
