In good Boudoir Photography, model confidence is critical. The fact is, most of the women that want to pose for boudoir portraits are too insecure about their bodies and/or looks to ask someone (photographer, husband, lover, etc.) to take intimate boudoir photos of them. Even when the woman agrees to have the photos taken, often, her confidence is lagging. This is normal!
The photographer must help to relax them and help them to focus on their good assets that “they know” makes them look hot and sexy. Great boudoir photography is not about making thin, shapely, tight-bodied, supple women look good. It's about making great sensuous and sexy pictures of regular women.
Self-esteem and self-confidence is, sometimes, overrated. Some women, who we might think, are very confident about their bodies, are actually very sensitive and insecure about their bodies. Still, there are other women who we might think should have confidence problems, literally brim with confidence. It’s all relative! For the photographer, being aware of this phenomenon is a good first step in helping the model build up her confidence.
These two videos offer two examples of Model Confidence.
The model in this video is giving a testimonial to the photographer that did the shoot. However, she expresses "confidence" reservations that most women share about themselves.
All women are beautiful! All women have a right to feel sexy! Their confidence is critical! But, trust me, it's all relative!
What goes a very long way toward building a woman's confidence are the use of boudoir photography props. They add to the shoot and helps get the creative juices flowing. Creativity always sprouts confidence. Consider the use of props.
