How I Accidently Learn How To Sell Photos Online

At First, I Was Afraid To Sell My Photos Online Because I Didn't Know How To Sell Photos Or Where To Sell My Photos

Actually, I accidently learned how to sell photos online. Although I now sell photos regularly, learning how and where to sell my photos online continued to escape me.

I was very disappointed to find out that my "brialliant, colorful" wildflowers had very little value. Since then, I've learned what photos sell and where to sell them.

Digital photography allows me to shoot ‘endless’ photos. And the digital photography technology produces brilliant, colorful photos that amaze me. Some of my favorite images are of colorful wildflowers.

Mistakenly, I thought that my “brilliant and colorful” photos would easily sell. I later discovered that “brilliant, colorful” photos of wildflowers are too plentiful to be of any value.

Boy, was I disappointed to find this out! By that time, I had amassed a very large collection of “brilliant, colorful” photos of wildflowers. Finding out that they had very little value was very disappointing. But, at the same time, it forced me to ask some questions like (if these “brilliant” photos won’t sell) what type of photos sell the best? And where do I go to sell photos? Are my photos good enough? What type of equipment do I need?

I was well aware of stock photography and how the stock photography market is going through a lot of changes because of digital photography advancements that is putting sophisticated equipment in the hands of many. I was also a little aware of the developing world of “micro stock” photography and many veteran stock photographers were resentful about this development. What I wasn’t aware of however, was that I had dozens of photos sitting on my computer hard drive that I didn’t think they were anything more than photos I took for fun!

Once I found out how and where I could sell photos that were just sitting on my hard drive, selling stock photos became a regular and growing income stream for me. I found this out accidentally!

As a result of doing photography word for local non-profit organizations in my community, I had amassed a very large collection of photos of children at play or in their normal ‘child’ activities. I would give to photos to the organizations and they publish them in their literature.

One day I got an email asking me about a photo of mine that was published in one of these publications. At first, I thought that the email was from the non-profit organization. I later found out that it was someone that wanted to ‘buy’ two of my photos in the publication. What was even more surprising to me was that I didn’t consider the two photos to be that good – they were just pictures of children at play. I have since found out that such photos are very much in demand!

I stepped up my research on how to sell photos and came upon a very informative source how to sell photos online. It’s an online course on how and where to sell your photos. The source taught me what photos buyers were looking for, where to sell my photos, what equipment I needed, what photo buyers look for and value, how to edit photos so that they are more marketable online.

To Be Honest, I Was Afraid To Sell My Photos Online, At First!

Although I try to sound like a photo selling expert now, I've got to admit that I had a fear that my photos weren't good enough. I had a huge 'need for approval' of my work. My newly discovered resource removed my fears and built my confidence tremendously. I promote my photos better. I now am very good at defining target markets for my photos. And since I've set up my online structure using their step-by-step help, all I have to do is take pictures, add the keywords (of what the photos are), and upload the photos. The rest is "almost" automatic for me. Knowing how to sell photos online consistently has removed my fears and boosted my confidence.

Once I discovered the answers to how to sell photos online and other questions about how to sell photos, I've found that I've also learned things such as what elements go into successfully marketing digital photos online and both the business and creative sides of how to sell photos online.
