Pet Photos of First Prize Winner and Honorable Mention Winners

Of all the entered pet photos the First Prize winner of the “My Pet Is Cuter Than Your Pet” Photo Contest is Ziggy in “Tucked in for the Night.” Congratulations Ziggy!!!!!!!!

Winners of the “My Pet Is Cuter Than Yours” Photo Contest are listed on the left and can be viewed below. The pictures on the right hand side are pictures of the prizes won by the winners - hand-drawn/painted renditions of the entrants by a local artist.

A very late entry in the contest that received a large number of comments. "Money" was a very popular pet.

The criteria used to determine the winner included the pet photos with the highest ratings and the most comments and ratings. Other entries that garnered high ratings and comments won “Honorable Mention.” (I also had help from my 7 year old grandson!)

First prize is a color pastel drawing of Ziggy.
Honorable Mention winners receive charcoal drawings of their cute pets.

Winning prizes artist is Norm Zeigler, a Long Beach, California artist.

For all practical purposes, this contest was complete weeks ago. All of the votes were in and counted. And the winner (Ziggy) was chosen. Photos were slowly being submitted. But, those in the winning group had received a considerable number of ratings and comments already.

And then – along came “Money” in the photo titled “I Miss You.” That photo was the only photo receiving ratings and comments for weeks! All of the comments were glowing and kind. Most were from genuine people – some were sent by the same person over and -over. (I guess they really, really wanted the photo to win!) Anyway, the photo received “Honorable Mention” status because of the enthusiasm of “Money” fans and the vast number of comments. Also, “Money” is a Stafford Bull Terrier, my favorite breed!

I have raised Stafford Bull Terriers in the past and I fully understand the compassion in the comments shared by those who knew “Money” and his owner. Reading the comments took me back to those days and brought a smile to my heart.

Thank you to all participants! Your participating added to the fun of this contest!
